Job Title: Mechanical Technologist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Technologist to support the commissioning phases of a newly constructed building at our client site. This role focuses on monitoring and reviewing commissioning paths, ensuring that commissioning reports meet project specifications. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between trades and engineers and should be familiar with the capabilities of both groups.
Responsibilities
- Attend commissioning meetings and coordinate with stakeholders including contractors, trades, and consultants.
- Follow through on project completion by assessing repairs, bringing in contractors as needed, and investigating ad hoc problems.
- Oversee ongoing projects to ensure proper construction activities are occurring and address any issues that arise.
- Fix equipment and determine the scope of upcoming projects.
- Communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Manage involvement in 5-6 ongoing projects, often switching between 3 different projects in a typical day.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical Technologist diploma.
- 7+ years of experience in a technologist role.
- Experience with building automation and mechanical equipment such as boilers, HVAC, cooling water systems, and more.
- General machine and troubleshooting knowledge, with the ability to read manuals and understand systems.
- Familiarity with Solidworks, Draftsight, and PLC/DDC/building automation systems.
- Permanent Resident or Citizen status.
- Self-starter with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Work Environment
This role is on-site, Monday to Friday from 7am-3pm, with potential for occasional on-call duties compensated at double the hourly rate after 7.5 hours per day.
