We are seeking a skilled and experienced Welder to join our construction team in British Columbia. This role is essential for assembling and repairing metal structures in various construction projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in welding techniques, is proficient in reading blueprints, and adheres strictly to safety protocols. Bilingual proficiency in English (French is an asset) is preferred.
Job Overview
As a Welder, you will work on a range of construction and fabrication projects requiring precise welding techniques. You’ll be responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, setting up welding equipment, and performing welding tasks to specifications. The role requires strong technical skills, an eye for detail, and a commitment to safety standards to ensure durable and structurally sound welds.
Responsibilities
- Welding and Fabrication: Perform various types of welding (MIG, TIG, stick, etc.) to assemble, join, and repair metal components.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings to determine the specifications of the weld.
- Material Preparation: Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, cutting, and shaping as required by the project.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality and safety standards, addressing any structural issues.
- Maintenance: Maintain welding equipment, tools, and safety gear to ensure proper functioning and workplace safety.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all workplace safety guidelines, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring proper ventilation.
- Documentation: Record work completed, materials used, and any repairs or adjustments made.
Requirements
- Certification: Red Seal Certification as a Welder in British Columbia (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of welding experience in construction or fabrication environments.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in multiple welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, as well as familiarity with metals such as steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to create clean, durable welds and inspect for imperfections or structural weaknesses.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting heavy materials, working at heights, and handling exposure to heat.
- Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 license is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specialized welding techniques, such as pipe welding or underwater welding.
- Knowledge of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient welding materials.
- Bilingual proficiency in French.
